Yasaka Koshindo Temple

八坂庚申堂

Located in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, this small temple is officially called “Daikoku-san Kongo-ji Koshin- do”. The temple is popular for not only protecting worshippers from illness and other disasters but also providing blessing for study and commercial prosperity. All around the temple grounds are hung colorful balls representing Kukurizaru (monkeys with bound feet and hands). It is said that if you write down your wish and offer it to the kukurizaru, not matter what your wish is, it will be granted.
